Traveling Tip 101 - #4 Travel Healthy

Indeed great health is truly great wealth!

It is important for you to take care of your current state of health even before planning a trip. This is to ensure that you would have a great holiday experience without any worries.  Moreover, now with the rise of H1N1 or bird flu infection, it is most preferable to take care of your own health so that you could enjoy distressing while being away from your own country.

So, where do you begin?

There are a total 3 steps: Before your trip, during your trip and at your destination

Before your trip, you should

1.       Get an immunization jab (e.g. flu jab, H1N1 jab). Caution: This might bring side effects, thus jab should be done at least 2 weeks before flight date.
2.       If you are prone to air sickness, do request for a window seat over the wing of the airplane.
3.       Best to wear loose or comfortable clothing and shoes for your flight.
4.       If you are feeling unwell, try to reschedule your flight till you are ready to fly.

During your trip, you should

1.       Eat lightly during the course of your flight to avoid getting dizzy and thus vomit (trust me; u would not want that to happen).
2.       Keep yourself hydrated.
3.       Try to stand up and walk around once in a while if condition permits (this would help your legs greatly; avoiding cramps from happening).

And lastly, at your destination, you should

1.       Never purchase local medications that you are unfamiliar with.
2.       Apply sun block to protect your skin from the harmful sun rays.
3.       Replenish yourself with mineral water to avoid for getting sick at the course of your trip.

Hope with this healthy travelling tips; it would help you in monitoring your health and therefore eventually would have an eventful holiday trip!

Traveling Tip 101 - #3 Purchasing Tickets

What would be an overseas trips (except Malaysia; I think) without a plane ticket?

Known as a key to a door, a plane ticket usually serves the most important element before even going on a trip. So how do you maximise your pocket in saving money when purchasing a plane ticket? Here’s how...

  1. Firstly, keep yourself updated on the current price trend on air tickets either online, through the print media or even the news. (Check out the promotional process during special occasions)
  2. Ask airline if they were to offer travel packages (like hotel room discounts) so that this could save a significant amount of your money.
  3. It is best to book your tickets during the low season rather than during the high season (like school holidays or public holidays). This would just eventually cost you more than the usual price.

To end off, here is a video form YouTube
(To summarise and add on to what that I have shared earlier)

Thanks eHow for the video tip.

Have fun booking!

Traveling Tip 101 - #2 Travel Agencies

If you are not that adventurous but would like to enjoy your trips, I recommend you to follow travel agencies that are available in your country.

In Singapore, there are various travel agencies that available at your fingertips like Chan Brothers, SA Tours, Dynasty Travel, NATAS, CTC Holidays, Grassland Express and Tours (and many more).

So what is the plus point if you were to follow a travel agency?

  1. For your own convenience. This way, you would not need to worry or fight for the tickets.
  2. Your vacation is organised. You do not need to have a headache on where you should visit to next (as everything is already planned out for you)
  3. You would get much affordable deals and price when following a travel agent as sometimes travel agencies would have special arrangement to the hotel pricing, thus providing a cheaper price.

So what are you waiting for? Ho to a travel agent near you today; and let them do all the planning for you!

Enjoy!

Hong Kong

After sharing what Malacca Town has to offer for the past 2 weeks, now, it is the time for me to share some snippets of what Hong Kong has to offer (finally!).

Hong Kong International Airport

Often described as a place where “East Meets West”, Hong Kong offers great scenery as well as great deals for a shopaholic like me.

Skyscrapers in Hong Kong

It is famous of its streets markets where we can observe and feel how it is like to live in a cultural place like Hong Kong. Although there were five street markets that were found in Hong Kong, I only managed to visit the Stanley Market where it provides cultural retail therapy for the shoppers. (Tip: Do bring sufficient cash when gong to Street Markets as it has variety of items to choose from).

Street Market during night time

What’s interesting about StreetMarket, which is quite different in Singapore which is known as “Pasar Malam”; Street Markets in Hong Kong generally operate in the morning till late midnight. So you would have all day to shop for souvenir (which I don’t think so) for your loved ones.

Here are some unforgettable scenes in Hong Kong. Enjoy!

Traveling Tip 101 - #1 Packing Your Luggage

Ever wondering of how to pack more efficiently and wished that you can have all the space to place your shopping items in your luggage after a long holiday?

Great! Here's how...

1. Minimize Toiletries

Although it is important to bring basic necessities especially toiletries, however, you must bear in mind to bring in a moderate amount (as you are going for a holiday, not moving your whole house with you). The key thing is that to bring what you really need and if it’s not enough, you could always purchase it from a convenience store along the way.

2.  Use Space-Savings bags

Space-saving bags help greatly in saving some space on your luggage as well as it help to organize your outfits during the traveling period. Examples of space-saving bags are Ziploc bags, where it could be re-used and work well with just a pinch.

3. Reuse Your Clothing

Be prepared to use each clothing item more than once. Thus, it will be great if you were to choose versatile clothing that could be mix and matched. By reusing your clean shirts as well as clean pants (after sending it to the laundry of course) might be able to help in increasing more free space in your luggage in order to place your shopping purchases.

To end off, here is a short yet helpful traveling video from Youtube.
